Review existing Will
We will look at your existing will to see if it fully covers your current circumstances.
Standard single and double Will
This option covers you if your joint assets come under the current Nil Rate Band for Inheritance Tax. You can have as many legacies and beneficiaries as you like. The price remains the same.
IHT single and double Will
This option covers you if your assets exceed the Inheritance Tax threshold and your estate is potentially liable for Inheritance Tax. These Wills usually contain trusts.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
What happens if you have a stroke , suffer from dementia or any other debilitating condition? Under UK law nobody else has the right to deal with anyone else's finances. You can no longer send your daughter to collect your pension because the post office lady knows her. If you want control over who looks after your finances you need an Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA). You appoint people you know and trust, and give them directions over what you want them to do.
Example 1
Michael lives with his mother in her house. She has a stroke and needs to move into a full rime care home. The local authority insist that the house is sold to pay for the home fees. Michael is potentially left homeless. He rectifies the situation by applying to the courts, but it takes twoyears and a lot of money before he is secure. If his mother had made an LPA appointing him an attorney there would have been no problems, and a lot of stress and expenditure would have been avoided.
Example 2
Mary, a widow suffers from dementia. It becomes evident that she needs full time care and therefore enters a nursing home. She owns her own home and she has investments. She made an LPA appointing her son and daughter. They now have the authority to sell her house (or rent it out) and look after her investments so that they can pay for her care fees, ensure she maintains her standard of living and also hopefully preserve some of her assets to lead on to her family after her death.

In any case we offer a quick and efficicent service to deal with all the complicated stuff so that you can grieve in peace knowing that everything is being sorted out on your behalf.
